Accidental Composition

Composition is a powerful tool for any piece of visual art, as students learned from the second project in our Visual Thinking class.  Here's a little exercise in recognizing good composition- Take a camera out for a walk and snap photos at random without ever looking directly at your subject...simply hold the camera at hip level and release the shutter. You may be surprised to see that some of your photos are quite interesting, compositionally.  They may even inspire you to take more risks in the way you compose your design or illustration work.
