Illustrator of the Week: CF Payne

Chris Payne began his freelance career in 1980 after graduating with a BFA from Miami University and post-graduate studies with the famous Illustrators Group.  Since then he has worked for clients such as the Atlantic Monthly, Boys Life, Reader's Digest, GQ, Esquire, Rolling Stone, Mad, and the New Yorker.  He has illustrated several children's books including Casey at the Bat, The Remarkable Farkle McBride, Black Betsy and True Heart.

Payne has been nationally recognized by Communication Arts, Print, the Society of Publication Designers, Step By Step Graphics, and was awarded the prestigious Hamilton King Award by the Society of Illustrators in New York.

His natural inclination is towards humor and caricature, but with a realistic style which enables him to cover subjects both seriously and irreverently.
